Before writing, I ask myself one big question. The answer changes my whole writing strategy.

If you want to see instant results with your marketing, then this secret is about to change everything.

The Biggest Mistake Made In Marketing That Repels Clients

After reading countless writing done by local businesses, there’s one similarity in most.

One that’s stopping them from reaching the next level in their markets.

Look at these headlines from Facebook Ads I found:

“Bespoke landscaping services!”
“Professional Block Paving Cleaning And Sealing Services.”
“Hey (Name of Town) & Surrounding Area Homeowners, I'm Michael 👋, a local contractor, and the person in the photo 😎”

And yes, the last one is real.

Do you see what is going on here?

They all talk about themselves.

To most people, this seems normal. You want to get your brand out there, right?

Yes. But there’s a better way.

The Marketing Mindset

Think of the thoughts that go through your head daily.

  • “I must wake up at 6:30…”

  • “Then I need to get to work…”

  • “By the way, what will I have for dinner today?”

Most people’s thoughts are about themselves, and that’s perfectly normal.

But when talking to other people… This won’t go over as well. Everyone is thinking about themselves, and focusing on themselves.

You must find ways to take advantage of this for results. There’s a saying from The Bible which explains this greatly:

“As you sow, so shall you reap.”

Ask yourself: What is the ultimate goal of your marketing?

It’s not to show off your design skills, it’s not to make others jealous of your ad budget.

It’s to get more leads and clients!

That’s the ‘reaping’ part - more clients.

But how do you ‘sow’ this?

That’s the question 99% of people struggle to answer.

And the answer has been hidden. This. Whole. Time.

The Secret To Turning Bypassers Into Clients Today

When you visit someone’s house, they expect you to invite them to yours soon after.

That’s the rule of reciprocity - meaning if you do X, I’ll do Y.

The same applies to marketing.

I know that everyone wants to talk about their company, but consider what’s in it for the reader.

If you provide landscaping services, you help people get nicer gardens and feel better about their homes.

When the reader scrolls through social media and sees, “Improve Your Garden And Home Today”, they’ll think twice about ignoring it.

Why?

Because that has a clear benefit for them and what they want. Not what the business says about themselves.

The moment you start focusing on other people’s needs is the moment your marketing game levels up.

I mentioned a crucial question at the beginning of this article. Here it is:

Imagine you’re the reader, and then ask: “What’s In It For Me?

WIIFM - The 5 most important letters in marketing.

If you talk about what people want, then more people will listen to you.

So the next time you go to write something for your business, just ask yourself why the reader should listen to you.

What benefit will they get? How will this improve their life? How will they feel afterwards?

It may be hard at first, but the results will make it worth it.

This is possible in any business, yours included. If you need help implementing this into your business, then get in touch with us today.
