How Many CTA Buttons Should A Landing Page Have? Definitively Answered

One of the simplest changes I make on client websites and landing pages almost always increases conversions:
I add more CTA buttons.
And not just at the bottom of the page. We’ll get into exactly WHERE and WHEN to put them.
It sounds obvious, but most websites still make people hunt for how to contact them.
That decision costs them clients.
Every Visitor Arrives at a Different Stage of Trust
The biggest mistake businesses make is assuming every visitor behaves the same.
When someone lands on your website, they usually fall into one of three groups.
And once you know this, you’ll know the answer to “How many CTA buttons should a landing page have?”.
1) The Researcher
These people have never heard of you before.
They:
Scroll the whole page
Read testimonials
Look at your work
Try to understand what you do
These people need the full journey before they feel comfortable contacting you.
This is why a CTA at the bottom still matters.
2) The Warm Visitor
These people already know you.
Maybe they were referred to you by a friend or they saw you on social media.
They click your site already half-convinced, and they’re already thinking, “How do I contact them?”
If your button is hidden at the bottom, you’ve just made it harder for the people MOST LIKELY to become customers.
This is why a top-right CTA button is so powerful.
For mobile websites, I usually put this in the top menu.
This choice lets ready-to-buy visitors act immediately without getting confused.
3) The Mid-Page Converter
These are the most interesting visitors.
They arrive unsure… Then something clicks halfway through.
Usually it’s one of these things:
A before & after photo (I’ve made an article about why these are so good for local businesses, check it out here)
A testimonial (builds trust)
A guarantee (removes risk)
Your process section (removes their uncertainty)
At that exact moment, they’re ready to enquire. You need a CTA button there and then.
The longer someone has to search for the next step, the more likely they are to leave.
Why Multiple CTAs Increase Conversions
Adding more CTA buttons isn’t salesy, in fact, it just makes it easier for customers to contact you.
You’re giving visitors the ability to contact you at 3 different points:
When they arrive, ready to buy
When they become convinced
When they finish reading
You meet them at EVERY stage they could POSSIBLY make a decision.
And when it’s easy for customers to contact you, you will get more clients.
That’s why Alex Hormozi’s formula of how valuable an offer is always includes ‘ease’.
So… How Many CTA Buttons Should A Landing Page Have?
A good website doesn’t make people look for the next step.
It makes the next step obvious EVERYWHERE.
Because when contacting you is easy, getting clients becomes easier too.
